We are the Paintpushers. A small group of visual artists who come together to critique monthly and show our new work annually. Our work is fresh, innovative and contemporary. We are motivated in presenting Des Moines with an alternative venue to purchasing and viewing original, fine art by upcoming and established local artists.

Graduated from Grand View University with BAs in Visual Arts, Graphic Design, and Creative and Performing Arts
Over the past couple of years my paintings have taken on a more conversational tone, I think. They have become little conversations with my self, an indulgence or an excessive pursuit of a silly notion. At times they are far darker than ever before and at other times lighter and freer.
There are elements of Classical Art, Surrealism and Symbolism in my work. The narratives become more personal with each year. The imagery consists of things that have meaning to me not necessarily the viewer.
Jacqueline Roate graduated from Grand View College with three BA degrees: Creative and Performing Arts, Visual Arts, and Graphic Design. In college, she was recognized by the Kennedy Center for costume design, but has been drawing figures/characters clothed and nude since she was a child, taking her first figure drawing class in elementary school. Upon her graduation from Grand View, she exhibited work at the Des Moines Art Festival’s Emerging Artist tent, and has since shown at various locations across Des Moines.
