The Paintpushers artist group will present “Prequel” and “Sequel” — a two part art exhibition featuring all new paintings, drawings, photographs, sculptures and digital works in a variety of styles. This the eleventh annual Paintpushers show, which will take place at two different venues. “Prequel” will feature works inspired by classical art. Art shown at “Sequel” will draw inspiration from art created after 1950. The inspiration will be expressed in a variety of ways, from technique and composition, to subject matter as diverse as family trees and time travel.
“Prequel” will be held at Polk County Heritage Gallery which is located at 111 Court Avenue in Des Moines, Iowa. Artwork will be on display between October 7th and October 31st . Gallery hours are Monday–Friday, 11am–4:30pm. An opening reception, with artists in attendance, will be held October 13th from 4 to 8pm. The exhibition is free and open to the public.
“Sequel” will be held at the Octagon Center for the Arts which is located at 427 Douglas Avenue in Ames, Iowa. Artwork will be on display between November 2nd and December 23rd. Gallery hours are Tuesday–Friday, 10am–5pm and Saturday–Sunday, 1–5pm. An opening reception, with artists in attendance, will be held November 9th from 5:50 to 7:30pm. The exhibition is free and open to the public.
